Welcome to a strange horror game where you have only one task: sit there and watch a jar. But it's not that simple. Flies in a Jar is a tense game where you have to fight your curiosity to not do what the game expects—open the jar.
You get a new job at FCL, a mysterious organization that specializes in researching anomalous entities. Your job is simple: sit at your desk and watch the jar containing "altered creatures" in room 537. That's all you have to do. It sounds easy, but as you read through the eerie emails and witness the unusual events unfold, you start to wonder: is just sitting still enough?
After a series of strange messages, including one threatening email that says, “we have your friends; release the flies or else…,” you realize that you are in a much more dangerous situation than you imagined. And then, as time goes by, the flies start to show signs of wanting to escape…
When you enter the game, you will see a desk with an old computer. The email system in the game plays an important role, providing information about your work, potential threats. Reading emails carefully can help you better understand the situation and figure out how to react appropriately.
At the center of the game is a jar containing “altered creatures.” Initially, they lie still, but over time, you will see them start to move, bumping into the jar and even trying to open the lid. You can tap on the jar to see how it reacts, but the question is: should you?
You can use your computer to enter a password, turn the lights on/off, or even make a phone call when you find an emergency contact. Some puzzles require you to search for information outside the game—for example, a clue might be on the developer’s website.
You'll struggle to decide whether to open the jar to discover what's happening or to remain silent and act morally. But who would do that when curiosity is killing you every second?
Without spoiling too much, if you think Flies in a Jar is simply a game about sitting and staring at a jar, you’re wrong. What happens when you lose control of the situation will make you wonder: what did I just do?
Flies in a Jar is not for the impatient. But if you enjoy a psychologically intense experience where waiting is the enemy, then this is the game for you. Will you open the jar?
Another new game: Home Alone.
