Home Alone is a small but creepy indie horror game. Developed as part of a game development competition, the game puts you in a familiar situation: home alone with a to-do list. But after a few minutes, you realize something is wrong...
Your parents have just left for dinner, and you, as the son, Jackson, are home alone and facing terrifying things without even knowing what they are. "Jason, Yamata, we're going to dinner! Since you don't have school tomorrow, we left a list of things to do before we get home. You'll find it on the kitchen counter. It's a pretty fancy dinner, son, so only call us if it's absolutely necessary. Have a wonderful evening! We'll be back before you know it!"
You start in your bedroom, walk down to the kitchen, and find a list of tasks on the counter. "Things to do: reheat pizza from the freezer, water the plants, clean the kitchen, and put the laundry in the washing machine."
It all sounds simple. You go get the watering can and water each potted plant. "Okay, there's one more... Oh, there's one in the corner. Now I'm done!" You put the watering can back. But then...
Knock, knock!
"Someone's knocking on the front door...? I'm standing right here. Someone must be craving my pizza!" You look out the window—something is moving outside.
You quickly reheat the pizza: "The instructions said it'll only take a minute." While you wait, you clean the kitchen. Everything is fine... except for the strange noises that get louder and louder.
You sit down to eat the pizza when it's ready. "This might be the last pizza I ever eat..." You review your list and find everything completed. But then...
The window is smashed. "What's going on?!" You run to check and realize something is in the house. "That guy really wants me!" Everything becomes chaos. You have to run away. You rush through the house, looking for a way out.
Can you survive, or will this be your last night?
Home Alone uses the tense atmosphere to create fear of the most ordinary things. Every little sound makes you panic. We've played too many home alone games, but this is really scary!
If you like indie horror games with simple but haunting gameplay, Home Alone will definitely be a worth-trying experience! And if you like horror games mixed with romantic elements, End Date is a suggestion.
