The Devils In The Details is a funny visual novel that flips the concept of working in Hell on its head in an unexpectedly mundane way. Rather to fighting demons or running from a haunting underworld, you find yourself working at the office and talking shop with your devil coworkers. The odd work gradually becomes a funny blend of supernatural comedy, interpersonal interaction, and romance.
The Devils In The Details is not your usual office life, working for the Underworld contracting firm Imperative Solutions. You play a human member of staff who's found him/herself working with the supernatural, where contracts and paperwork and job duties are a day's work.
That's the fun of the setting. The office is recognizable, but the characters in it are not. Everyone in the office has their own personality, from stern boss Kronos to welcoming Rowan and playful Cecil. Their chats provide a fair share of comedy and opportunities to discover who each of them are outside of their insane careers.
The Devils In The Details involves a lot of reading conversations and picking responses. You'll connect with diverse co-workers and participate in office conversations, having in-person chats or office messaging with them and getting to know their personalities. Some of the moments are funny, but other times they'll begin to interject more about their personal lives that causes the characters to be less predictable.
Just because you work in the Underworld doesn't mean you can forget about your obligations. You will have desk stuff and things to do in between jobs. There's also a mini-game of sorting paper, which adds a tactile element to the dialogue-heavy experience. It's a welcome change of pace from reading dialogue and shuttling back and forth between scenes.
Devils In The Details is an unusual take on the visual novel, mixing workplace comedy, otherworldly characters and romance-focused storylines. Whether you want to meet the oddball actors or you're just a little curious in what it's like to work for a Hell firm, there's plenty here to make The Devils In The Details' bizarre office worth visiting. So hop in and get to work, then wait to see after your next discussion.
