To Eat a God is a narrative-driven game featuring elements of horror and dark fantasy. You play as a character known as a puppet - a body controlled by an entity from another world. You are brought to a place called the Garden, a unique realm where seven Symbols preside over various concepts.

Your initial goal is to blend in and appear as though you belong there. The other characters must not discover that your body is linked to an external entity; if the truth comes to light, you could be in grave danger.

The Story of To Eat a God

The Garden and the Seven Symbols

The Garden is home to seven Symbols. Each Symbol represents a specific concept and plays a distinct role in this world. According to lore, the Symbols select individuals following the Candle Festival. One of these chosen few might be the reincarnation of the Creator. Your character is also brought to the Garden, yet there is something unusual about you.

You lack the standard connection to any of the Symbols, a fact that arouses the suspicion of the other characters.

Surviving in a Perilous Place

From the very beginning, it is clear that the Garden is not a safe place. A single wrong choice can quickly lead to a "Bad End."
You might attempt to flee, but the inhabitants of the Garden will not let you leave easily. Alternatively, you can comply with their demands and try to assimilate into life there.

A key part of the narrative involves working at a hotel, where you must set tables and serve the Symbols. While performing your duties, you will encounter various characters, each with their own distinct personalities and agendas.

Gameplay and Choices

Choices Shape the Story

To Eat a God features visual novel-style gameplay. Players read through dialogue and select actions or responses.
These choices can alter the course of the story. Some decisions bring you closer to your goal of survival, while others may lead you to a disastrous conclusion.

Multiple Endings

The game encourages players to experiment with different choices. You might encounter Bad Ends before finding a safer path.

If you enjoy visual novels, horror, and choice-driven narratives, To Eat a God is worth a try. Next game: Misfiction.
