The Magnet: First Night is a visual novel and point-and-click game, situated in a dark and terrifying post-apocalyptic world.
Players will accompany Teddy, a young girl struggling to survive in a devastated world after mysterious creatures called Horrors appeared and massacred humans for no apparent reason. They do not hunt for food or seek resources—their sole purpose is to kill. These entities have a deformed appearance, as if randomly assembled by an evil god from the fragments of living bodies.
Teddy's life is a long, endless run, where the darkness of the night becomes her only ally. Horrors cannot see in the dark, but when the light appears, they turn into unstoppable hunters.
First Night is the first chapter, taking players on Teddy's first night as she finds an abandoned building—the last refuge in a city filled with danger.
The game creates a heavy, oppressive atmosphere where silence reigns and fear lurks. Teddy must not only survive the horrors but also grapple with memories of her old life—things she must forget in order to continue living.
One of The Magnet's greatest strengths is the way it portrays loneliness and loss. Teddy frequently breaks the silence with monologues—a habit that keeps her sane. Fragments of memories of candy and an old chair flash by, then fade away, like things she must forget to survive.
