SCP-087: Horror Stairs is a horror game that revolves around the experiment of walking down a seemingly endless staircase. The player is trapped in a small space with no windows or exits—only stairs leading down.

Gameplay of SCP-087: Horror Stairs

You just need to take a flashlight and go down the stairs. But the further you go, the greater the feeling of insecurity. Small details, seemingly normal, gradually become creepy:

  • The number of floors displayed increases as you go down (instead of decreasing).
  • Footsteps sound even when you are not moving.
  • The walls bear haunting handprints.
  • The walls are getting dirty and moldy.
  • A human skull lies right in the middle of the walkway.

Every time you think you are getting used to the darkness, the game throws out a new surprise: strange sounds, unusual objects appearing, or unexpected jumpscares.

Creepy Climax

As you go deeper—to the 50th floor, then 70th, then 80th—you begin to encounter more terrifying phenomena:

  • A ghost appears right in front of you.
  • A strange sound echoes through the empty stairwell.
  • A giant spider suddenly appears on the ceiling.
  • Mysterious faces stare from the shadows.

The feeling of not knowing what is going to happen next is what keeps you both tense and on edge.

SCP-087: Horror Stairs has no complex mechanics, nor does it have combat. It is purely a psychological horror experience; the further you go down, the greater the pressure, and the more fear builds. Another horror game you might like is CornField.
