These Heavenly Bodies is a short horror game from the developers of Bad Flesh, exploring familiar themes of horror and surrealism. In the game, you play as a priest sent by the church to assist a local lab that has just unearthed three ancient angel statues.

What makes them so terrifying is that when they are X-rayed, researchers discover a perfectly preserved human form inside. The church wants to verify, and it is your job to supervise the testing process.

The Lab in These Heavenly Bodies

The game begins when you enter the lab where scientists are preparing for the scan. The first statue, a blue one, is placed on the table. You control the scanner to check each abnormality on the body—bones, nerves, and dark areas of unknown origin.

Everything seems normal at first. But after the scan, the person in charge said that the anomalies inside were reacting similarly to an ancient virus. They began to suspect that these statues were not just objects containing human figures but also a means of sealing something unknown.

Virus or Holy Spirit in These Heavenly Bodies

On the second day, you returned to the lab. The atmosphere was different. Flies were buzzing everywhere, and a musty smell was spreading. The researcher greeted you with a tired face, then told you that he had a strange dream. In the dream, angels appeared and said that this was not a virus but a form of divine energy sent down to purify the world.

He believed that he was chosen to release that energy and began the final scan with absolute faith. You continued your work as before, while a feeling of unease gradually filled the room.

When humans lose themselves

On the third day, you returned. The door opens, and a terrifying scene appears. In the laboratory, the researcher has completely changed; his skin is deformed and his face is strange. He whispers words of repentance, saying that he has listened to the angels to reach a purer state.

From here, everything collapses. Strange sounds, distorted images and flashing lights appear continuously. The researcher invites you to join, believing that it is the only way to be saved.

These Heavenly Bodies is not long but leaves a heavy aftertaste. The cold images, stuffy laboratory space and slow pacing make the game like a dream filled with the smell of metal and time.

This is a typical work of the psychological horror genre combined with body horror elements, for those who love short, abstract and multi-layered horror games. If you want more horror experiences, explore Therapy with Dr. Albert Krueger.
