Invitationem is a short horror game in the classic 2D point & click style, set in a strange house in the middle of the French forest in 1991. The game was developed independently, with a strong personal touch from the game developer.

Although simple in graphics, Invitationem creates a scary atmosphere thanks to the creepy sounds, dark background, and the feeling of being isolated in a place no one wants to stop.

Warning: Some content in the game may not be suitable for young players. The game is recommended to be played in a dark space and headphones should be used to increase the horror effect.

Invitation Story

You are driving in the rain when your car breaks down. With no other choice, you are forced to continue on foot. In the thick darkness, you see a glimmer of light from a strange house. It all starts here.

How to play Invitationem

The Strange House

  • The house seems to have been visited before you—the lights are on, there are signs of activity, but no one answers when you call.
  • You start to hear screams from the woods, then a recording echoes through the house—making things even stranger.
  • When you decide to leave, the door disappears. The house locks you in.

Rooms and secrets

  • You explore each room in turn: the living room, the bathroom, the basement...
  • Each place has puzzles, strange items, and unusual details such as
    • The mirror fails to provide a clear reflection.
    • A giant shadow appears outside the window.
    • A spectral visage emerges from the sink.

Memorable Puzzles

  • Decode the colors from an old diary entry: "white – green – red – blue."
  • Enter the password based on the fingerprint on the keyboard and the haunting number: 152436.
  • Use corrosive chemicals to destroy a monstrous entity blocking the way.

The Hidden Truth

  • At the end of the game, you discover an altar-like room with an eerie glow. A voice calls out, “Remain calm. It is almost over. This is a necessary ritual... for the prosperity of the Great Hunter.”
  • You are forced to become part of the ritual, not knowing the purpose, not knowing if you can escape.

Invitationem doesn't last too long, but it leaves an unpleasant aftertaste in the player's heart. No obvious jumpscares, no excessive gore—just a feeling of being watched, of being trapped, and a vague fear that you have set foot in a place you shouldn't be.

If you love short but deep point & click games, try stepping into the house of Invitationem. But remember, the door is easy to enter, but the exit is not certain... And if you think the darkness in Invitationem is scary enough, try Bleek - where light no longer exists and memories are the first thing to be erased.
