Five Nights At Last Breath isn't the typical horror game you can get used to in a few minutes. It's chaotic from the start, shocking, bizarre, and leaves you unsure if you're playing a game… or being played by a game. Clearly inspired by Five Nights at Freddy's, the game throws you into a surveillance space filled with cameras, distorted sounds, and incredibly incomprehensible characters.
You play as a night shift worker, locked in a room full of cameras and strange noises. No clear explanation, no proper guidance. You are alone with the screen, and from the very first seconds, you sense that something is wrong.
The characters in the game are anything but normal. They're not only terrifying but also… unconventional, as if pieced together from things that don't belong in the same world, such as a mix of animal and mechanical features that create a sense of unease. Each camera angle presents a bizarre snapshot, and you never know what will appear next.
The gameplay revolves around managing cameras, opening and closing doors, and especially controlling the oxygen system. If the oxygen level reaches a dangerous threshold, you're almost certain to fail.
However, the problem is that the game almost never clearly explains the rules. You have to figure things out in the chaos and often only understand what's happening… after you've already lost.
What makes Five Nights At Last Breath so talked about isn't necessarily the gameplay but the way it uses imagery and characters. The game is satirical, even shocking, with many elements that easily confuse players, such as its unexpected plot twists and exaggerated character designs that parody common horror tropes.
It is this lack of control that has made the game spread so quickly. It's not exactly excellent in the traditional sense, but it's strange enough to warrant a try.
Five Nights At Last Breath is like a nightmare created from the internet: messy, confusing, and sometimes going too far. It's not for everyone, but if you enjoy unconventional experiences, this title is something worth a try. Next horror game: Red Face Horror.
