Bergentruck

Bergentruck is a short, humorous game created as part of the Undertale-inspired Game Jam. Developed by Pale Opera, the game puts players in the shoes of Asgore Dreemurr, the king of monsters, in a bizarre version never before seen: Asgore Truck Simulator – where he drives a truck to pick flowers, hunt for food, and even engage in absurd boss battles.

Bergentruck Controls

Players control Asgore's truck with the mouse:

• Move and turn by adjusting the steering direction.
• Horn to jump.
• Switch gears to increase or decrease speed, from level 1 to level 6.

On the dashboard are an HP bar and a progress bar, which help track Asgore's status and the level's completion.

Bergentruck Levels

The game consists of multiple levels, each with a different setting and objective, along with details reminiscent of the Undertale world.

Level 1: Flowers

• Asgore is in financial trouble as his flower shop is about to close. To make ends meet, he decides to drive out to collect wildflowers and resell them.
• Players must crash into the flowers to pick them, then smell them to assess their quality. However, red flowers are both precious and dangerous – touching them will cause damage.
• The map is full of obstacles such as trees and thorns, forcing players to skillfully choose between speed and safety.

Level 2: Fast Food Run

• After selling the flowers, Asgore begins to feel hungry. But he doesn’t dare go to the grocery store, so he is forced to find food by driving around hunting for snacks.
• The goal: collect pizzas and wild fruits, avoiding collisions with mysterious characters that appear along the way.
• The humorous elements begin to appear: Gasters appear randomly, dropping mysterious eggs when hit. The scene is both strange and funny – truly a fan-made game.

Level 3: Midnight Drive

• Full and a little tipsy, Asgore decides to go for a night drive to relax.
• However, the drive quickly turns into a boss battle with The Knight – a super-speedy opponent.
• Players must switch between low speed to dodge and high speed to attack while eating flowers to regain health mid-fight.
• The battle plays out like a mix between Undertale and a classic racing game – chaotic, unpredictable, and extremely humorous.

Graphics and Sound

• Bergentruck uses a simple pixel art style, with details that directly reference Undertale.
• The soundtrack is a mix of original tracks and melodies from Midnight Motorist, creating an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and absurd.
• Small details like the Kris character model swaying on the dashboard or the car horn jumping give the game a gentle but charming satire.

Despite only lasting a few minutes, Bergentruck is a unique experience – both an homage and a joke to the Undertale universe. The game combines quirky controls, random humor, and music reminiscent of Toby Fox, making it impossible not to laugh at its intentional absurdity.
