Nextbot Horror is a survival horror game where you wake up locked within an abandoned psychiatric facility. This hospital used to heal individuals with mental illnesses. But in the end, many of them died in the chilly, miserable halls, instead of being cured. The hauntings seemed to stick behind after the facility closed, becoming nextbots that hunt anyone who shows up.
The basic objective is to survive and to find the exit to the next level. The nextbots will roam about the hospital constantly chasing you. They are fast , they put pressure on , and the passageways are easy to get lost in. Players must be careful when running and watch out for the teleportation gates. The blue gates are for entry, the red gates are the genuine exit. One error can bring you back to the dangerous area.
One noteworthy aspect is that the game lets you drop obstacles to hinder the progress of the next bot. However, the barriers only last around 10 seconds before dissolving so they’re more of a time-wasting tool than a legitimate protection.
Sometimes those few seconds are all it takes for the player to slip through a corner or reach the exit before being caught.
The feeling of running while looking back to see what's chasing you makes these simple actions much more tense than usual.
Nextbot Horror isn’t the type of horror game that’s all about jump scares. The game’s most disturbing aspect is the persistent feeling of being hunted in small, dark places. The longer you play, the more likely you are to worry. Just turning a corner in a corridor can have a nextbot spawn behind you. If you want to get the excitement again, but with a more mystery-adventure style, Horror on Holiday Rails could be a good alternative to attempt next.
