Bureau of Anomalies

Bureau of Anomalies puts you in the role of an employee participating in a selection test for a mysterious agency. In the second of three stages, your task isn't to fight or flee but to observe.

Bureau of Anomalies Background

Before you are a series of seemingly ordinary photos: forests, beaches, stairs, vehicles, and daytime outdoor scenes. But according to Bureau records, each of these photos has been technically examined and confirmed to contain anomalies beyond scientific explanation.

You are not given the answers beforehand. Every decision is based on your eyes, concentration, and intuition. The results of the test will determine whether you qualify to proceed to the final stage.

How to Play Bureau of Anomalies

  • In each turn, you will receive a photo and have two choices.
  • If you detect an unusual detail, click directly on that area in the photo.
  • If you believe the photo is completely normal, you confirm that you haven't detected any anomalies using a dedicated button.
  • Each correct answer increases your score, while incorrect answers deduct points, but your score cannot fall below 0. The maximum score is 50, and this score determines whether you advance to the next stage.

You are provided with a zoom tool to examine even the smallest details. You can rewind, redo the test, and adjust settings in the corner of the screen. The game is quite slow-paced, not time-pressured, but requires players to observe very carefully and patiently.

Bureau of Anomalies is a slow-paced horror experience, focusing entirely on observation and psychology rather than jump scares. The game is suitable for those who enjoy scrutinising details, being suspicious of everything, and feeling tense just over a seemingly harmless photo. If you like quiet horror, where the more you play, the more unsettling it becomes, this is a game worth trying. After surviving the uneasy moments in this game, it’s worth moving on to Sprunki But Everyone Is Alive.
