Baldi's Basics - Field Ttip is a demo version of Baldi’s Basics’ Kickstarter project. Instead of the familiar classroom and math problems, the game throws players in the woods on a camping trip organised by Baldi. It sounds fun, but a sense of unease sets in almost immediately.

How to play Field Trip

Main Objective

Baldi assigns you the task of keeping the campfire burning. To do this, you must go into the woods to gather firewood and bring it back to refuel. The bigger the fire, the higher your score, and higher scores bring better rewards, even buffs that last for the entire game. The problem is that time is limited, and Baldi is not patient at all.

Baldi on the Camping Trip

Baldi remains the biggest threat. He constantly appears at increasingly faster speeds, sometimes in very illogical locations, as if he were waiting in the woods or right at the campfire. The game doesn't explain why, and this ambiguity keeps players constantly on edge.

Exploration and Risk

You can venture away from the campfire to explore the edge of the map, but the further you go, the emptier and more meaningless the world becomes. There are no obvious secrets or tempting rewards, only feelings of being lost and isolated. Gathering a few extra bundles of firewood can sometimes end a playthrough with a familiar jumpscare.

Space and Gameplay Feeling

The forest is vast, open, and constantly filled with unpleasant sounds like insect chirping and distant howling. On the ground are numerous bear traps set by Baldi. Stepping on one will slow you down, drain your energy, and make you almost easy prey. The stamina bar still exists but is smaller, making each escape attempt very difficult.

Field Trip is more of a concept test than a finished game. It shows that Baldi’s Basics can expand beyond the classroom, incorporating school activities like field trips into a survival-scoring gameplay style. In short, bizarre, and both funny and unsettling, this demo is enough to give players an idea that, if fully developed, Baldi's Basics would still be a nightmare… just in many different settings.

If you enjoyed the slow, psychological pressure of this game, Sprunki But Everyone Is Alive is a fitting next step.
