Assessment Examination is an analog horror game that simulates old videotapes. The player takes on the role of a candidate undergoing an entrance exam for a shady organization called the Authenticity Assessment Department (AAD). The goal is to assess your ability to distinguish between real and fake—specifically, to distinguish between humans and entities that may have replaced them.
You are invited to take a test to apply for a job at AAD. However, the information about the job is extremely vague. From the beginning, you are asked a series of strange personal questions.
The further you go into the test, the more tense the atmosphere becomes. Suspicious images, mysterious voices, and strange codes appear continuously, mixed with disturbing phone conversations and voice logs of people who used to work there. It all comes down to one thing: this isn’t just a test—it’s a mutual assessment of people and “them.”
The game takes you through different parts of the test:
You answer seemingly simple but potentially meaningful questions:
Are you afraid of God?
Do you love someone?
Are you afraid of losing someone you love?
Your answers aren’t just recorded—they can be judged.
You’ll be shown a series of faces—some seemingly normal, some with bizarre, distorted, unnatural features. Your task is to rate them: Trust or Threat.
The faces aren’t just static images—sometimes they seem to be looking back at you.
Some dialogue is inserted between the test sections. You have to listen, judge, and slowly piece together the pieces of truth behind the authenticity assessments.
Assessment Examination is not simply a puzzle or a choice game—it is a tricky, metaphorical psychological experience that pushes you to the edge of doubt and fear. You are not just taking a test—you are being tested. The question is not whether you pass the test, but: Are you still yourself after you have completed it? What you've just experienced was merely the beginning. Discover new depths of fear with Timber Trail: Prologue.
