When you awaken as a masked creature, an oni demon warns you: "Create chaos or face eternal curse." However, contrary to this terrifying threat, the world you set foot in is colorful, the spirits are somewhat... adorable, and everything has a surprisingly peaceful look. But don't let the appearance fool you—the curse is still there, and you need to break it.

How to Play Yokai's Curse

Yokai's Curse is a light adventure game but requires players to observe carefully, talk to spirits, and solve small puzzles scattered throughout the map. The controls are simple but responsive—sometimes just a small mistake can ruin the whole quiet path in the haunted house.

• Move along special paths that make no noise to avoid detection.
• Communicate with spirits—from ghost cats, carpenters, and policemen to monks—to unlock clues.
• Collect items such as 5 yen coins, demon arrows, fire talismans, bows, and more.
• Make offerings and pray in traditional Japanese rituals: ring the bell, clap your hands twice, and make a silent prayer.
• Perform actions to help the spirits, such as placing ladders, finding old cats, cutting golden bamboo to get sacred mochi...

Characters & Spirits: Each One Has a Story

The game world is a fantasy village full of spirits with their personalities.

• Carpenter: a tough carpenter but soft-hearted if you have a good reason.
• Gardener: gives you a saw to cut bamboo if you help him.
• Old Cat: A dying spirit who needs your help to find a resting place.
• Monks, policemen, and fire tower spirits all offer advice, messages, or assistance if you demonstrate your trustworthiness.

Breaking the Curse: More Than Just Defeating the Demon

To break the curse, you need:

• Find Demon Arrow and a bow.
• Recruit allies—including monks, carpenters, gardeners...
• Confront the demon—but in the way of a good spirit, with the help of friends you've helped before.
