Jolly 3: Chapter 1 is the opening installment of the third game in the Jolly survival horror series. Players take on the role of a night shift worker, trying to survive in a workplace rife with technical malfunctions, surveillance cameras, and ever-present threats. The familiar but stressful objective: survive until 6:00 AM.

Jolly 3: Chapter 1 Gameplay

Gameplay revolves around managing the control room's systems. Players must constantly monitor 13 cameras, each connected to an oxygen fan. When a fan malfunctions, the oxygen level decreases, and you must pinpoint its location to repair it promptly.

In addition, there's a gas system, activated by a switch, to repel animatronics when they appear. However, gas is limited, forcing players to consider when to use it. The repair button allows for hands-free system repairs, but overuse will deplete the gas supply, making things more dangerous later on.

Threats and Countermeasures

The game introduces various animatronics with different behaviors, such as Jolly, Jo, Try, Mi, and familiar metal variants.

  • Some react to lights, making turning them on risky.
  • Some appear on camera, requiring the player to stare or quickly flip the camera to avoid danger.
  • Some animatronics only attack when the oxygen system malfunctions, creating pressure to repair in the dark.

On subsequent nights, the pace quickens, system errors become more frequent, and players must memorize the most frequently malfunctioning cameras to react promptly.

Interspersed Mini-Games

After each night, the game opens with short mini-games with entirely different rules: creating paths, entering codes, using flashlights in sync, or spamming keys to escape dangerous situations. These sections both change the pace of gameplay and add information to the storyline.

Jolly 3: Chapter 1 focuses heavily on system management, memorization, and quick reflexes. The difficulty increases progressively each night, forcing players to remain calm, observe carefully, and use resources wisely. This is a sufficiently long and intense opening chapter, laying a clear foundation for the subsequent parts of Jolly 3.

If you want to switch to a shorter experience with a quirky, humorous, and slightly creepy feel, Boyfriend Summoning Fail is a name worth exploring.
