Jackpot Crash Course is an adventure game with a story set in the limits of a strange game show. Players take on the role of a prisoner who is brought in to take part in a contest called Bet and Forgive. Contestants have to play a number of games of chance, the outcome of which decides who moves forward and who gets eliminated. Roulette is the first added gaming difficulty in the game.
Twenty prisoners are picked to be on the show. They go into the tournament rounds in pairs. Everyone starts the match with a certain number of chips, and has to manage them. The player with the least chips when the time runs out is eliminated.
The final prize is a chance to have their sentence waived, thus every single gamble is crucially significant.
Jackpot Crash Course is not only about the games. Players can walk about the environment, look at objects and talk to other people. Conversations will contain more information, saved as Information Cards and Character Cards.
The initial difficulty for players is roulette. Players start with 10 chips.
Each player may place a wager of up to 10 chips every round or pass. You can bet on red or black or on specific numbers. After the betting is done, the player initiates the spin. The amount of chips you receive depends on the outcome of the roulette.
The goal here isn't just to rack up a ton of chips; the player with the fewest chips when the countdown hits zero is out. It produces high-pressure situations. Players must consider their chip stack, time left and the betting patterns of their opponents.
Jackpot Crash Course spends a lot of time developing characters and dialog. Players learn about other convicts by conversation and information collected during the game.
Information Cards summarize crucial information in the game. These cards can be collected by players as they explore and engage with characters. Some info can be used as a useful tool for future interactions.
You gain Character Cards by talking to other characters and earning their trust. Each character has a personality and a past of their own. Their relationship takes the story beyond the roulette rounds.
Jackpot Crash Course is a mix of betting, exploration, dialog and survival, placed within the context of a quirky TV show.
