Grotesqueresque is an interactive storytelling game consisting of 10 different chapters. Each chapter is a separate story with its own gameplay and different endings depending on your choices. The game is designed in an old pixel style, with dark images, strange background music, and many unusual details.

Grotesqueresque Gameplay

Right from the beginning of the game, you will meet a narrator character with a long beard, whose beard moves according to physics. This character will talk directly to you, asking you to make the right choice within a limited time. If you answer incorrectly or react slowly, the game will respond immediately, sometimes annoyingly or surprisingly.

Each chapter has a different gameplay style. For example:

  • There is a chapter where you need to choose the right person to throw into the cooking pot.
  • There is a chapter where you evaluate other players by pressing the "score" button.
  • There is a chapter that requires you to answer each question correctly; if you are wrong, you can be "deleted" from the game.
  • Some chapters are almost self-playing, with little control over them.

Unusual design and sound

The entire game uses a limited color scheme (almost monochromatic), simple pixelated visuals, and unique sound effects for each chapter. The music and sound effects add to the eerie or unsettling atmosphere. If you're into horror games with escape elements, check out Killer Escape – a chilling escape room game set in a torture chamber.
