Ghost City is a first person action-survival horror game that drops the players into a deserted metropolis where not a single sign of life is left. Your whole squad is slaughtered by vicious mutated creatures and you are the only survivor left to fight on to revenge your fallen friends.
The game is set in a dark environment with deserted streets, decaying buildings and a bunch of monsters including huge spiders, zombies, gross insects and a variety of other scary animals. Every step on the ground is a real fight for survival as monsters can appear from any direction at any moment.
Players start on the rooftop of an abandoned building, the only location left that is secure. But to destroy the creatures and cleanse the city, you must keep going down into ever more perilous zones. The longer you go, the more adversaries you will find, and the more vicious they will be in their attacks.
The game’s arsenal is diverse, ranging from tactical knives and Molotov bombs to shotguns and sniper rifles. Press the "I" key to change your equipment, adjust your loadout to fit each individual fighting situation:
Your character will restore health over time and not instantly. If you run straight into fighting every time without resting to heal, you will be mobbed and killed in seconds. So it’s frequently the safer choice to retreat every once in a while to heal yourself before going back in for the fight.
Ghost City is always a tension, a never-ending fighting speed, with a hauntingly evocative horror vibe. The mechanics are not very sophisticated, but the game is nonetheless exciting because of the heart-pounding moments of survival in a monster-infested city. If you’re looking to go on with the horror games that give you that same sense of discomfort, you might want to play Five Nights at Shrek’s Hotel, where every night of survival is more unpredictable than the last.
