Seamongrel is a game about a trip that seems romantic but then goes downhill into a nightmare. It all starts on Theo and Kim's 2nd anniversary – a special occasion that should have been filled with happiness, if not for the unusual signs that started appearing from the moment they entered the aquarium...

Seamongrel Game Story

The game revolves around the two main characters, Theo and his girlfriend Kim. On their second anniversary, Theo forgot this special day, which made Kim angry. To make up for it, he decides to take her to the aquarium – but they arrive too late; the place is about to close.

However, both of them still buy tickets to visit, and then strange things start to happen. The aquarium suddenly loses power, and in the darkness, a strange creature attacks them. From here, the couple are caught up in a strange journey – where they not only have to find a way to escape but also have to confront a series of underwater creatures with monstrous shapes.

How to play Seamongrel

In the game, Theo and Kim will encounter five giant creatures: sea bass, hammerhead shark, jellyfish, turtle, and dolphin. The remarkable thing is that they all have faces that look like... humans. And if you look closely, the faces of these creatures are quite similar to the employees you met at the beginning of the game – from ticket seller Demi and tour guide Sally to security guard Brad...

This detail makes many people wonder: have these employees turned into monsters? And if so, what is the cause?

It all started from... the snack bar?

If you go back to the beginning of the game, there is a rather suspicious scene. The character Brad says that he feels a severe stomachache after eating something— and that food is clearly from the snack bar in the aquarium. That place is managed by a mysterious man – someone you will not see again from the beginning to the end of the game.

The hypothesis is that he put something in the food, causing all the employees to mutate, then cut off the power and escaped from this place before everything became chaotic.

The official sequel of Hungry Lamu

It sounds unrelated, but Seamongrel is actually the official sequel of the game Hungry Lamu – a name that once caused a stir in the indie gaming community with its cute appearance and extremely haunting content. Both games were developed by the same programmer – Edu.

Compared to the cute 2D animation style of Hungry Lamu, Seamongrel has "transformed" with 3D pixel graphics, and the gameplay has upgraded to the action role-playing genre. Although the duration is short, players still have to interact with NPCs, collect items and fight monsters.

Seamongrel may seem like a simple pixel horror game on the surface, but upon closer inspection, we discover many hidden layers and hidden connections to Hungry Lamu. It is not just a sequel but also an important piece in a creepy game universe where crazy experiments and human tragedy are hidden under a cute cover.
