Riddle Transfer 2 is the final installment of the Riddle School / Riddle Transfer series, following the events of Riddle Transfer 1. This release is also the game that marks the official end of a story that lasted nearly a decade.
At the end of Riddle Transfer 1, Phil and his friends were left behind on the train by Diz and forced to escape into the sewer system.
Riddle Transfer 2 opens in the same place: a dank, dangerous maze filled with strange creatures. Phil must find a way out, solve puzzles, avoid his pursuers and activate a portal to bring the group back to Riddle School.
After escaping the sewers and activating the portal, Phil's group unexpectedly returns to Riddle School 1 – a moment that makes both the player and the characters confused and nostalgic. Here, they reunite with teacher Cophey and swiftly become embroiled in a fresh escapade.
Riddle Transfer 2 retains the familiar point-and-click style but expands both in difficulty and creativity. The game requires players to think logically, experiment many times and interact with every detail in the environment in order to progress further in Phil's journey.
Players will have to collect small objects in the classroom and combine them with the series' signature crazy but reasonable logic. You will have to sneak past security checkpoints, disarm traps, and deal with Quiz's technical systems. Many puzzles require reverse reasoning, experimentation, and close observation of every detail in the environment, making the experience both intellectually challenging and entertaining.
The game still retains its signature humorous style, with clever dialogue and light satire. Phil often makes witty remarks about everything around him, while his friends have quirky answers, creating unexpected and humorous situations. In addition, many old characters reappear in intriguing ways, keeping the story's pace cheerful, despite the sometimes tense setting.
Players will meet familiar characters such as Smiley, Zack, Phred, Chubb, or Richie. Each of them has their own way of supporting Phil or sometimes causing trouble, opening up side quests and opportunities to explore more of the game world. These details make the experience more varied and vivid, not just focusing on the main puzzle.
After beating the Quiz and foiling his plans, Phil and his friends finally gain their freedom. Although there are still many strange things happening around the school, they realise that their biggest journey is over, and each previous experience has been a valuable lesson in their journey.
