Plastic Coquina is a quirky indie experience where players wake up each morning in a new apartment near the sea, listening to the waves and sunlight filtering through the trees… and begin a strange routine: collecting odds and ends to create a doll.

At first glance, the game's world seems quite peaceful. Early mornings feel like a non-existent time, suspended between sleep and work. In a room full of unopened boxes, you begin a new project, a strange personal ritual centered around assembling small objects to create parts of a doll.

Plastic Coquina Gameplay

Each day, players choose two items from various objects scattered throughout the room. These items are quite strange and full of personal memories, such as:

  • A canine tooth picked up during a hiking trip
  • A porcelain plate from my grandmother's dinnerware set
  • A koi fish keychain in a plastic block
  • A heavy metal compass
  • A bottle of sparkling blue glitter

After choosing your items, you enter a small maze. In this maze, the player must find the correct colored spheres corresponding to the chosen items, then return to the exit to complete the day's doll assembly. The mechanics are basic, but it feels like assembling something piece by piece, more like a quiet ritual than a typical game.

Game Features

The story is revealed through fragmented thoughts: Between rounds, the game intersperses short monologues from the main character. She has just moved to a new city and is not yet accustomed to life there. Memories, thoughts, and fragmented conversations gradually reveal her circumstances.

A Strange Doll-Making Project: Collecting items and assembling them into parts of a doll is the central activity of the game. Initially, it seems like a small hobby, but the more you play, the more you feel a strange obsession surrounding this project.

The Atmosphere Becomes Increasingly Unusual: Over time, the game's feel gradually changes. Waking up early in the morning, the tired body and the absolute focus on completing the doll make everything feel unsettling.

The Moment of Finishing the Doll: The doll is finally done after numerous trips to the maze and gathering things. It seems like all the little things and broken memories in the game come together to become a whole.

Plastic Coquina is not a distinct horror or action game. It's more of a thinking game, where simple gameplay helps the user understand how the character thinks. The small maze, the trinkets, and the doll-making ceremony all add to the tranquil yet slightly creepy feeling, like standing in front of the sea in the early morning when everything is still not fully awake. For a change of pace, Dress Me Down takes players into a more relaxed world of fashion and styling.
