Be Honest starts out as a simple quiz: "What kind of toy are you?" - sounds fun, lighthearted and harmless. But after just a few questions, players quickly realize: this is more than just a normal personality test.

Eerie images, noisy machinery, strange advertisements, and a whispering stranger monitoring your every choice - everything gradually turns the quiz experience into a supernatural nightmare disguised as entertainment.

How to play Be Honest

  • Players answer a series of multiple-choice questions about habits, personalities, and social behaviors.
  • Some segments are "free association" (free association): you have 3 seconds to choose the word closest to a root word (for example, "Death" - choose "Life").
  • Retro ads appear intermittently, imitating the style of early 20th century advertising—but with a creepy element.
  • Your real name suddenly appears on the screen, even though you never entered it.
  • The quiz result is more than just a sticker—it’s an assessment from an anonymous entity.

The question topics in Be Honest

The game digs deep into seemingly mundane aspects:

  • Where do you usually sit in a restaurant—near the door or in the most comfortable place?
  • Have you ever seen an owl? How many times do you think an owl has seen you?
  • How much time do you spend alone each day? Do you have many neighbors around your house?
  • What would you do if a stranger approached you and asked to borrow your phone?

These seemingly innocuous questions gradually become a tool for “someone” to sketch a portrait of you—the person sitting in front of the screen.

Unusual signs

Even while playing, you will see:

  • The screen changes color from purple to red depending on the segment—especially when “he” gets close.
  • The characters in the ads suddenly become strange and distorted.
  • The engine roars and breathes near your ear, creating a distorted sound that makes you feel as though someone is watching you.
  • Your real name appears (even though you just typed in a playful name like "Funtime Lauren").
  • The magic symbols, pentagrams, and the words "We are Owl Company" take things further and further away from the normal game framework.

Be Honest is one of the simplest yet most effective games at pushing players to the edge of anxiety. All thanks to a seemingly harmless formula: a quiz. But the more you play, the more you realize that it's not the game judging you, but a gaze always waiting behind the screen. If you like horror games with a forest setting, Night Shift is a suggestion.
