Alice is Dead is a hit point & click horror adventure game that was once a hit on Newgrounds. Inspired by the world of Alice in Wonderland, the game completely turns the fairy tale dream around and takes you into a dark, strange and creepy version of Wonderland.

Game Story

You wake up in a strange room, next to Alice - who has gone forever. Your memories are empty, your identity is unclear, and a mysterious voice echoes in your mind: "Find the rabbit.", "Who are you? Why are you here? And what really happened to Alice?"

Gradually, through scattered clues - from a wristwatch, an empty Drink Me bottle, to cryptic letters, you discover a distorted Wonderland. Where reality and fantasy intertwine, the line between reason and madness becomes fragile. You must find the truth before you are completely lost in this distorted world.

Alice is Dead gameplay

  • Traditional point & click: Pick up objects, combine items, and use them to unlock paths and overcome obstacles.
  • Environmental puzzles: The game doesn’t give specific instructions, requiring players to carefully observe every detail, such as using plant acid to burn spider webs, or crafting weapons from bones and stones.
  • Unpredictable interactions: Familiar characters like Caterpillar, Rabbit, or Alice herself all become unstable. One wrong click can lead to a surprising ending.

Alice is Dead atmosphere

The game doesn’t rely on jump scares but rather exploits quiet weirdness – like Alice’s soulless eyes after she leaves, the off-key background music, the suggestive words (“I’ve been bad”), and normal objects that feel off (oddly shaped trees, modern-day cards out of place in a fairy tale world, etc.).

Players will constantly doubt their character, wondering: "Am I the one who caused Alice's troubles?" Or just another victim of this mysterious Wonderland?

Why play Alice is Dead?

The unique setting transforms a familiar fairy tale into a nightmare.

  • Smart puzzles: Not easy but extremely satisfying when solved.
  • Multi-layered content: Metaphors about identity, memory, and the price of awakening.
  • Compelling premise for the whole series: This is only part 1 of the Alice is Dead trilogy, followed by Part 2 and Part 3.

If you love puzzle games with a strong psychological horror feel, Alice is Dead is a small but haunting game. This is a nightmare that even adults will have to rethink about themselves after playing.
