Alesa House is a retro-styled indie action horror game, developed as a reimagining of A House for Alesa in a completely new timeline. The game combines a chilling atmosphere, classic console-style graphics, and direct action gameplay where players not only flee but can also fight back.
Players take on the role of Alesa, a 24-year-old social worker sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a family living near a remote forest. The area has long been shrouded in rumours of an ancient evil entity residing in a house in the woods.
Initially, Alesa doesn't believe the legend, but as she delves deeper into the area and the house, she encounters grotesque creatures and the terrifying truth behind the rumours. The question is no longer where the family is, but whether Alesa can survive and escape this house.
Alesa House features 2D side-scrolling gameplay inspired by classic games like Ghosts 'n Goblins and Castlevania. Players control Alesa as they navigate through various levels, dodging traps, confronting monsters, and defeating bosses.
Unlike previous versions, Alesa can use a variety of weapons, each with its own unique death animation for enemies. The game emphasises dodging, positioning, and reflexes, creating a challenging experience without relying too heavily on jump scares.
Alesa House is not simply a remake but rather an independent spin-off inspired by the Alesa universe. The game blends horror, action, and the dark humour characteristic of the Alesa series, naturally leading players to another unsettling experience in Are You With Us?, where fear comes not from combat, but from the slow, disturbing act of communicating with the unknown.
