The Grave Robber is a top-down art-house horror game where you play as a hired gravedigger doing the dirtiest job for money. The mission is simple on paper: dig five graves, collect 15 artefacts, and leave. No other tasks.

In the silent graveyard, with only dim lighting, the sound of the wind, and a sense of solitude, each dig reveals buried objects and uncovers something wrong, horrifying, and unsettling.

How to play The Grave Robber

  • Move your character in top-down view.
  • Dig graves, sort bones, and search for artifacts.
  • Interact with the mouse to clear the ground, flip objects, and collect items.
  • Manage actions according to the instructions in the initial letter.

Interaction within the graves takes place in close-up, where the graphic style suddenly shifts, creating a feeling of deeper intrusion into something untouchable. The game offers a feeling very similar to Stocked, where seemingly harmless part-time jobs in familiar settings gradually turn into a nightmare when you stay too late.

Features of The Grave Robber

  • Strong artistic contrast: The exterior of the grave features a retro 3D style reminiscent of the PS2, while the interior is a distorted, black-and-white hand-drawn sketch, like a nightmare notebook sketch.
  • Eerie silence: Minimal background music, mostly ambient, making even small actions feel tense.
  • Unexpected final twist: When the player does more than what is required, the consequences are swift, cold, and unforgettable.

The Grave Robber is a short but extremely memorable indie horror experience, distinguished by its unique art style, minimalist storytelling, and pervasive sense of unease. The game poses a simple yet haunting question: How far are you willing to go for money?
