Mel At Night is a horror game with a visual novel style mixed with adventure and puzzle elements. The game takes players into a dream world that is both cute and creepy, where you have to find mysterious puzzle pieces, face strange creatures and decide the fate of the surrounding characters.

Mel At Night Game Story

You play as Mel, a character living in dreams that intertwine with reality. One night, Mel is pulled into a series of strange events: she meets strange creatures (human cats, rabbits, talking insects...), hears the call of a creepy face man and discovers an important object broken into three pieces.

Your mission is to find enough puzzle pieces scattered in many vague locations (candy stores, small theaters, forests, toy gardens...), face guardians who guard the puzzle pieces—some friendly, some hostile—and choose how to handle each situation.

The game has at least two different paths/endings depending on how you interact with NPCs, solve puzzles, and make moral decisions (share or keep items, save or abandon other characters).

How to Play Mel At Night

  • Read and Choose: Mel At Night operates on a visual novel basis: read dialogue, choose answers, and make decisions that lead to different branches of the plot.
  • Find & Collect: Explore the environment and pick up items (e.g., artificial flowers, medicine, tangerines, and heart-shaped glass pieces). Each item can be used in different places or given to NPCs.
  • Mini-Puzzles: Some areas require solving puzzles (color codes, word puzzles, logic puzzles) to open doors or receive rewards.
  • Simple Minigames: There are a few challenge-style levels (e.g., shooting targets) to win puzzle pieces or rewards.
  • Multiple Endings: Small actions (choosing right/wrong, who you help, and who you ignore) will decide the good/bad ending or the real/dream ending.

Features

  • Dreamlike atmosphere—creepy: Graphics, sound and script create a feeling that is both cute and haunting.
  • Multi-branched plot: The player's decisions clearly affect the development and ending.
  • Unique characters: Rich NPC system: from gentle Centipeda and teasing brothers to mysterious entities guarding the puzzle pieces.
  • Changeable puzzles: Some puzzles will change answers between plays, increasing the challenge when replaying.
  • Interspersed minigames: Small challenges (shooting targets, remembering codes) help refresh the gameplay.
  • Collect & exchange: Collected items can be used to help NPCs, exchange for puzzle pieces or open new doors.

Mel At Night is suitable for players who like to experience visual novels with a lot of emotions, want to immerse themselves in a slightly creepy atmosphere, and also want to challenge themselves through puzzles. If you like ambiguous stories, strange characters, and many endings to explore—Mel At Night is worth a try. But if you want a creepier experience, play Fear Me [Jeff the Killer’s Dating Sim].
