Mausoleosis

Mausoleosis is a short, first-person horror game where you play as David, a young man who receives a letter from his mother who died 20 years ago. In the letter, she says that she is trapped in an ancient mausoleum, scared, and wants David to bring her back.

Just like how Slasher Lock traps the player in a strange house with a terrifying presence lurking in the darkness, Mausoleosis also traps us in a maze of memories, lies, and death that still lurks around.

Not sure if someone is playing a prank or if there is really something wrong surrounding his mother's death, David still decides to go to the old cemetery – where she was buried – to verify.

The story in Mausoleosis

It all begins when David stands alone in the cold cemetery, with only a flashlight as his companion. He walks towards the mausoleum, where there is a strange inscription: "Gone... but not forever."

On the way, David meets a girl named Iris. She is also wandering in the cemetery, saying that she is looking for a lost cat. When David says that he is looking for his mother in the mausoleum, Iris becomes suspicious and wary. But then, the door behind them suddenly slams shut – the two are officially trapped inside.

How to Play Mausoleosis

A Place Not for the Living

From here, the game begins to lead the player deeper into the dark maze of the ancient mausoleum. David must solve puzzles related to stone statues, series of numbers, and birth and death dates of the deceased.

Each clue opens a new door but also raises many questions: Why is the mausoleum so large? Was this place used for another purpose?

Every sound – from the whistling wind and echoing footsteps to lifeless statues – makes the space feel stuffy.

An unexpected reunion

After a while of splitting up to find their way, David and Iris meet again.

Iris doesn't know whether to believe it or not. But then... a door opens. A woman steps out of the darkness. She calls David "my love", says she's been waiting for a long time, and now they can be together forever.

But that hug... doesn't feel like a mother's hug...
