Bendy and the Ink Machine is a horror adventure game with a dark cartoon style. Players take on the role of Henry, an animator who returns to his friend Joey's old studio after 30 years. At first glance, this is just an abandoned studio, but the deeper you go, the creepier and more mysterious things become.

Bendy and the Ink Machine Opening Story

The game begins with a letter from Joey to Henry, inviting him back to the studio with the promise of something special. When entering, the player sees familiar images such as old desks, cartoon drawings and posters promoting the cartoon character Bendy and his friends, like Little Devil Darlin' or Sheep Songs. However, the gloomy atmosphere and the slogan "Dreams Come True" make everything suspicious.

Exploring the studio in Bendy and the Ink Machine

The player quickly discovers the Ink Machine – a strange machine placed in the middle of the studio. It is unclear how it works, but to start it, Henry must find many items from all over: books, gears, wrenches, music discs and items related to the animation production past. These items are placed on small altars in the room, like a strange ritual that Joey once forced the staff to perform.

Dark atmosphere

The game creates a constant feeling of horror:

  • The paintings Bendy's cardboard cutout appears in the hallway.
  • A recording recounts the discontent of the staff as Joey becomes obsessed with the ink machine.
  • The words "Who's Laughing Now" are carved into the wall, adding to the tension.

Gameplay and Puzzles in Bendy and the Ink Machine

The main mechanics are point & click:

  • Collect and use items.
  • Solve puzzles to start the machine.
  • Interact with the environment, such as electrical boxes, mirrors, and locked rooms; especially, the player must activate the ink flow before turning on the main power.

Visuals and Sound
