Line 88 is a short kinetic novel with walking elements, taking you on a seemingly familiar journey: a bus ride home, a person sitting alone, a repetitive rhythm of life. But in that loop, something starts to go off the rails.
You play as Now, a man who lives a closed life, taking the same bus every day, not talking to anyone, not expecting anyone to notice. But that morning, a stranger—or rather, an acquaintance—suddenly appears: Siren, a former high school classmate, radiant and talking nonstop, as if there had never been any distance between the two.
At first it was just awkward. Then the strange feeling grew—as if you were stepping back into an old memory, something that had been buried. Suddenly, the bus went dark. No more lights, no more passengers. Only Now and Siren remain—the same suffocating anxiety: Where are we?
You try to move forward to find the driver. However, the bus continues endlessly. It’s as if you’re stuck in a space that isn’t real. The space appears endless, with winding corridors, grass growing from the floor, and mushrooms and trees growing in the bus compartment. Memories of the present and the past mixed together.
In your endless steps, you begin to doubt everything: Is Siren real? Is this just a distorted memory? And most of all, is there something you’ve deliberately forgotten—what made you leave without a word of goodbye?
The seemingly innocuous conversations suddenly become sharp. Siren starts asking questions. You start to tremble. Maybe the past isn’t as quiet as you thought. Perhaps this bus is not taking you home but taking you back to where you left off.
Line 88 does not scare with blood or jumpscares. It is a sad and disturbing song about repetition, loneliness and memory. The gameplay is light, mainly reading and moving in a closed environment. But that simplicity opens up a quiet and cold psychological space—where you are forced to face the person you used to be. Keep exploring our diverse world of games. Brighton City is a fantastic next destination.
