Five Nights at Winston's is a survival horror game inspired by the familiar camera-monitoring style, but it places players in a chaotic school environment. You play as a night shift employee at Eagleton School District, where bizarre rules from the administrator try to deny any paranormal activity, while mysterious creatures constantly appear behind the cameras.

Survive Every Shift in Five Nights at Winston's

Your job sounds simple: monitor the camera system, check the hallways, and prevent anything from approaching the office. However, the entire building has lost power at night, leaving the cameras, security doors, and lighting systems running on backup batteries. Each time you turn on a light or close a door, it consumes energy, so you must carefully consider each action instead of reacting instinctively.

Watch the Cameras Carefully

The creatures don't move according to the same pattern. They appear in various areas on the map, leaving behind signals such as footsteps, strange noises, or screams before approaching the office. Regular camera surveillance helps you pinpoint their location, but overuse of cameras also drains your battery faster.

Learn Every Enemy

Throughout the nights, you'll encounter various characters such as Long Arms, Baby Charles, Weird Climber, and Baby Winston. Each has their own approach, forcing you to memorize identifying signs and react at the right time. As the difficulty increases in later nights, multiple threats will be active simultaneously, making resource management and camera surveillance a stressful challenge.

Five Nights at Winston's Gameplay Tips

  • Listen to sounds before acting. Footsteps, screams, or distinctive sounds often appear before enemies approach the door, saving you battery instead of closing the door too early.
  • Don't overuse doors and lights. Because the entire system runs on backup batteries, keeping the lights on or the door closed for too long will deplete your energy before your shift ends.
  • Observe the monster's expressions on the camera. Some creatures change their state or face before becoming more dangerous, which is a sign to prepare your defenses.
  • Don't be complacent near 6 AM. Night 5 shows that monsters can still cling to doors for a long time around 5 AM, so continue managing your battery and watching them until your shift is truly over.

Five Nights at Winston's combines a tense atmosphere, energy management elements, and a diverse enemy system to create stressful night shifts. If you want to try other horror games, I recommend Survive Min, a fantastic visual novel.
